Graphics

Kinema’s designed graphics catalog: what it covers and how to apply, edit, and remove graphics in the editor.

#The catalog

Kinema ships a designed catalog of animated graphics in six visual themes. During a build, a graphics director reads the narration and fills each graphic beat with the best-fitting design and real values from what is being said. In the editor, the Graphics panel shows a live video preview of every design in any theme.

  • Titles and labels: date stamps, hammer statements, kinetic titles, name plates, stat tags, rank labels, chapter cards.
  • Cards: fact cards, highlighted passages, documents, quotes, definitions, comparisons, bullet lists, fact sheets, framed exhibits.
  • Maps: real satellite locate, routes between stops, and region highlights.
  • Data and diagrams: animated counters, bar and line charts, timelines, step flows, callout arrows, archival frames.

#Applying a graphic

  • Select a clip, then click a design, or drag any card onto a timeline clip.
  • Titles, labels, cards, counters and callouts play ON TOP of the clip’s footage; exhibits, maps, charts, timelines and flows replace the clip’s visual with their own scene.
  • Drop a card on an empty stretch of the timeline to create a standalone graphic there. It gets its own clip and a Delete button.
  • Overlay graphics appear on the Graphics track and can be trimmed independently of the footage under them.

#Editing a graphic

Selecting a graphic (on the timeline or from “In this video” in the Graphics panel) opens an editor tailored to that design: text fields with live character counts, list rows, map coordinates, and a position pad you can drag to place things like callout arrows anywhere on frame. Every keystroke previews instantly in the player, and each graphic can override the video’s theme.

Preview themes in the Graphics panel before committing: the same design reads very differently across themes.
